New Support Vans Arrive //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
Two brand-new support vans have arrived at VIF-A. The payload support van (PVan) houses ground equipment such as the electrical and communication interfaces between the spacecraft systems and the launch pad throughout the countdown. The ground van (GVan) supports the launch vehicle with a dedicated set of control electronics. The two vans have been designed to support specific mission configurations and will be seen leading the convoy as the Vulcan rocket rolls from VIF-A to the launch pad.
SLC-3 Upper Swing Arm Mounted //
Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif.
A new upper swing arm was mounted atop the umbilical tower at SLC-3. The upper swing arm will service the hydrogen vent for Centaur V, while the lower swing arm will house engine chilldown and hazgas lines in addition to delivering hydrogen and LOX into the Centaur V.
New Hydrogen Tank Arrives //
Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif.
A new hydrogen tank arrived at SLC-3 in Vandenberg, tripling the pad’s hydrogen storage capacity to 100 thousand gallons. The new 70-thousand-gallon tank, along with the preexisting 30-thousand-gallon tank historically used to support Atlas programs, will be used to support Centaur V during Vulcan missions from the West Coast.
Amazon Vulcan Launch Platform (VLP-A) Base Arrives //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
The second half of the VLP-A base arrived in Florida for final assembly. ULA's second launch processing capability uses a new Vulcan Launch Platform tailored to support specific mission configurations and to meet demand for a higher launch rate cadence for Amazon's Project Kuiper and other commercial customers.
Space Launch Complex-3 (SLC-3) Construction //
Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif.
Construction is well underway at SLC-3 as we prepare for the first Vulcan launch from Vandenberg.
Amazon Vertical Integration Facility (VIF-A) Roof Extension //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
VIF-A, formerly known as the SPOC, is undergoing a roof extension of 45 feet to accommodate Vulcan processing and integration activities as we continue to modernize our infrastructure. This operation began May 2024. VIF-A will allow for dual, simultaneous launch processing between both integration facilities to meet demand for higher launch rate cadence from Amazon’s Project Kuiper and other customers.
Amazon Vulcan Launch Platform (VLP-A) Arrives //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
Structural components for VLP-A arrived in Florida in June 2024. VLP-A will travel along a newly renovated rail system between Amazon Vertical Integration Facility (VIF-A) and Space Launch Complex-41(SLC-41) to enable seamless transport of overlapping Atlas V and Vulcan launch campaigns as we double our launch rate.
Government Vertical Integration Facility (VIF-G) Upgrades //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
The VIF-G platforms, decks and crane to accommodate all Atlas V and Vulcan configurations are upgraded.
Space Launch Complex-41 (SLC-41) Upgrades //
Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Fla.
Prior to Vulcan's first launch, modifications at SLC-41 were completed including: a liquid natural gas farm, increased fuel and oxidizer storage capacity and an increased acoustic water suppression system capacity.
